Once upon a time there were a couple of friends. They went ice-swimming in the Aare every winter. They dreamed of having a sauna on the Aare. This is their story.

In January 2023, the friends got together and decided. Now we're not dreaming anymore, now we're just going to do it. They needed two things: a mobile sauna and a location on the Aare. No sooner said than done.

They scouted out pitches along the Aare. They soon had a commitment. 

They bid for an old trailer at an auction on the Internet. 

An intensive and experimental construction phase followed. The friends spent the enitre summer hammering, sawing, drilling, gluing, sanding and painting. 

In the fall of 2023, the mobile sauna was finished and ready for use. In the meantime, however, the promise of a location had vanished into thin air. For lack of a better idea, they moved the sauna to a parking lot at the Zibelemäritschwümme.

In December 2023, they finally found a location. And what a location it was: right next to the Schönausteg in Bern, even with its own fountain and access to the Aare. 

Then everything happened very quickly. Everyone wanted to use the sauna. The sauna coped with the rush brilliantly. The friends learned how to run a website over Christmas, including booking, billing and customer service.

The winter at Schönausteg was wonderful. When spring came, we were drawn upriver. Our sauna found a new home at the clubhouse of the friendly boaters.

As the temperature rose, it became too warm for our sauna. So we made the alpine ascent with her.

The sauna enjoyed the summer of 2024 on the Fafleralp in the beautiful Lötschental valley.

Because the five friends were having so much fun, they hatched new plans over the summer; in secret on the cow pasture.

In the second winter of 2024/25, our first sauna got company and the adventure continued in Bern, Biel, Solothurn and Thun.

In summer 25, we went back to the mountains to the beautiful bathing lake in Hasliberg and to the Hornberg.
